Midland Acres Water Main
Project Overview
A plot of land in Midland Acres, near Frank Sound, was to be subdivided and sold. A requirement prior to the subdivision being approved was the availability of potable water. Several lengths of SDR21 4" J/G pipes and fittings were imported to be installed.
Risk and Constraints
One common feature of Midland Acres is the high rock content. It took a considerable number of equipment hours to excavate in rock to reach the minimum depth required for the water main installation.
Strategy & Implementation
We worked closely with the Water Authority to certify the installation as this would become part of the public water system. Strategic planning of excavation work minimized equipment time while meeting all depth requirements.
Achievements
The water main installation was successfully certified by the Water Authority, enabling the subdivision approval to proceed and adding value to the land parcels.
