Canal Point Colonial Residence

Canal Point, West Bay
14 months
6,000 sq ft

Project Overview

A colonial-style masterpiece in Canal Point managed by FSG's own Christopher Allen, on behalf of an external general contractor. The project blended modern finishes and amenities with this historic building style. Sustainability was a key component in deciding the finishes and services of this residence.

Risk and Constraints

The project required balancing authentic colonial architectural style with modern amenities and sustainable living requirements. Sourcing historically appropriate materials while meeting contemporary building standards presented unique challenges.

Strategy & Implementation

Reclaimed bricks from the US city of Chicago were used extensively throughout the driveways, feature wall and other outdoor areas. Renewable flooring, IPE, a Brazilian hardwood was employed on the porch, terraces and pool deck for the organic look and feel. Natural lighting and airflow were crucial factors which saw the installation of a combination of 18ft and 10ft clear openings fitted with thermal insulated clear sliding panel doors.

Achievements

While the property is connected to local essential service providers, there is a net zero power consumption and water for irrigation and green spaces are gathered from a 4,000 cubic feet cistern below the garage. A truly sustainable colonial masterpiece.
